Al Glowasky

Managing Director, Investment Banking

Al Glowasky is a Managing Director in the Investment Banking Group of Sandler O’Neill + Partners, L.P. He works with financial institutions on merger and acquisition assignments, capital raising and strategic planning. Mr. Glowasky focuses on institutions in the Pacific Northwest and Western U.S.

Prior to joining Sandler O’Neill in 2004, Mr. Glowasky worked in investment banking at D.A. Davidson & Co. and Pacific Crest Securities. He started his career as an investment banker in 1982 at Morgan Stanley and also worked at PaineWebber in New York.

Mr. Glowasky is a frequent speaker at banking conferences and at strategic planning meetings of bank Boards of Directors. In 2009, he worked with West Coast Bank on its $155 million recapitalization, one of the first transactions completed for a bank with a regulatory order. He has worked with distressed banks in the Northwest as they identify options to raise capital or find another exit strategy to support shareholder value. Recently, he worked with AmericanWest on its recapitalization of the bank using a rarely used bankruptcy of the AmericanWest holding company. He also advised on the sale of Cascade Bancorp (WA), which included a successful discounted retirement of its TARP investment.

Mr. Glowasky holds both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania, as well as a Master of Business Administration from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. After graduate school, he taught at and was an executive administrator/program director at the University of Pennsylvania. He lives in Portland, Oregon, and has two grown sons. Al is an avid runner, having completed seven marathons in locations such as Rome and on Kona, Hawaii.
