Managing Director, Investment Banking
Mathew Pendo is a Managing Director in the Investment Banking Group of Sandler O’Neill + Partners, L.P. Mr. Pendo has over 25 years of investment banking experience. He advises depositories, insurance companies, and other financial institutions on strategic issues, including mergers and acquisitions and capital raising.
Prior to joining Sandler O’Neill, Mr. Pendo served in the Department of the Treasury as Chief Investment Officer of the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP). In this role, he oversaw Treasury’s $200 billion TARP investment activities across multiple industries, leading a staff of 20 professionals.
Before entering public service, Mr. Pendo was a Managing Director at Barclays Capital, where he held leadership roles and was a senior investment banker. He served as Co-Head of the Global Industrials Group, and before that, Co-Head of U.S. Investment Banking. Mr. Pendo began his career at Merrill Lynch & Co., where he worked in the company’s New York, Los Angeles and Palo Alto offices, eventually becoming a Managing Director.
Mr. Pendo holds a Bachelor of Arts from Princeton University, where he co-captained the men's varsity tennis team and was an Academic All-American.
