Fred B. White, III is a Managing Director in the Investment Banking Group of Sandler O’Neill + Partners, L.P. Mr. White, who is based in the firm’s New York headquarters focuses on providing strategic advice to banks and thrifts in connection with mergers and acquisitions, as well as financings.

Mr. White gained extensive mergers and acquisitions experience as a financial institutions attorney at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, where he was co-head of the firm’s financial institutions mergers and acquisitions practice.

Mr. White has represented bank holding companies, commercial banks, bank acquirers and investors, savings and loan associations, savings banks, consumer finance companies, mortgage banking companies and related services entities. He has also advised numerous financial services firms concerning regulatory issues, mergers and acquisitions and public offerings, including The Bear Stearns Companies Inc. in its merger with JPMorgan Chase & Co., Lone Star Funds in its acquisition of the mortgage lending business of CIT Group Inc.; REFCO Inc. in the sale of its global futures brokerage business to Man Financial, Inc. and Cendant Corporation in its spinoff of its mortgage subsidiary.

Mr. White joined Skadden, Arps in 1983 and became a partner in 1986. Prior to Skadden, Arps, Mr. White worked at City Federal Savings and Loan Association. Mr. White earned a Juris Doctor from George Washington University in 1972 and a Bachelor of Arts from Wheaton College in 1969.
