Joseph F. Stangl

Joseph Stangl is a Principal in the Investment Banking Group of Sandler O’Neill + Partners, L.P. His responsibilities include advising financial services firms on mergers and acquisitions, capital raisings and FDIC-assisted transactions.
Prior to joining Sandler O’Neill in 2004, Mr. Stangl led the Bank M&A effort at Boston Private Financial Holdings. Prior to Boston Private, he was a Director in the Financial Institutions investment banking group at CIBC World Markets, where he spent over three years working with a variety of banking, asset management, and specialty finance companies. He began his career at KPMG LLP in its Financial Services audit practice, where, from 1993 to 1997, he focused primarily on commercial bank clients.
Mr. Stangl’s recent transaction experience includes advising the Special Committee of the Board of Directors of Institutional Financial Markets in a strategic investment by Mead Park Capital Partners and Cohen Bros. Financial in May 2013. He also led all of Sandler O’Neill’s work with buyers of failed banks, advising on 27 completed transactions since 2009.
Mr. Stangl holds a Master of Business Administration from Columbia Business School and a Bachelor of Arts from the College of the Holy Cross.
